Luana Leichsenring exclusive interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

My birth name is important to me and the first three letters mean “moon” in Portuguese. My music is related to the idea of feeling on the moon, a place where people can go to escape reality.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

Since I was a small child I always loved music, my first experience was playing the piano and singing in the Sunday school, when I started to grow up my taste changed and I have become open to many different styles. I discovered that I wanted this for my life when I started going to music festivals and meeting people from different countries and walks of life, and all united at that moment through music.

Music gives life meaning, energy, and love to each other. everyone has personal challenges, everyone has a life and in music, you can escape reality, you can feel that there is something more in this world. I decided to become a DJ to bring these people to love, happiness, and energy since in the world we live in, many people try to take that away from us. I want to use my influence and my music to make this world a fairer and happier place.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

What touches my heart is a melodic house, where it brings people towards the feeling of dreaming. My intention is to bring people on a journey into the mind. I feel that style of festivals like burning man, all day I dream, the afterlife, and Mayan warrior are part of what has influenced me.

Ben Bohmer with the track “After Earth” is exactly the type of music that inspired me, Tale of us with “hold me to the light” too. Artists like, Sebastien Leger, Oliver Koletzki, Bonobo, Lee Burridge, Monolink, Acid Pauli, Damian Lazarus, Stephan Bodzin have inspired me too.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

I’m still very early in my career and there are still a lot of new things to come, but I feel myself on my DJ sets with the intention of bringing people to another dimension, to discover more about themselves with music, I’m have already produced a number of tracks where people can feel a connection with themselves and the universe.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I decided to get into music because it is something I love and will bring love and positivity to people. There is a huge competition between DJs, and being a woman often makes it difficult to have respect from other DJ’s so I just have to play the best music I can.

I always suffered from a fear of public events, my body always froze up, and by becoming a DJ has helped me overcome this fear, I did go through many difficulties in the beginning and just as there are many good people there are also people who only do all this for the wrong reasons.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I don’t believe there is a ‘best’, each DJ has something that makes them different, and they put this energy into the sets and music, I believe I’m good at what I do and I still have many years ahead to practice more and more, I never want a stop to make music, I won’t always get better at what I choose and use this power to help people.

What are your plans for the near future?

I want to create my own festival and community where people around the world can connect through the same energy, with yoga, meditations, vegan food, music, camps, and help to others. I’m also doing a tv show with other artists in Tulum, which will show life behind the stage.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

I would like to especially thank my boyfriend for always supporting me and believing in me, and my parents and sister for all the love and support in the world. And I would like to thank you, Enya, because since I was a kid my mom put her songs in my room and give an amazing spiritual connection with my soul making who I am today.

How can fans find you?

I’m based in Tulum for the next 6 months, but also Fans can find me on SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and Instagram.

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?

Always follow what you feel in the moment of your sets!
