How did you come by your stage name?
My stage name is Jayzon J. It comes from my name Jayzon Jenkins. The first name that I came up with back in 2011 is D.U.L “Da Unknown Lyricist” because no one knew that I did music except for my brothers.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I’ve always loved music since I was little. I loved the different sounds being put together to make something beautiful! In school, I used to make beats on the table using my hands or with pens and pencils. As I got older, I used to dance and I could dance to anything that I hear. In 2011 in high school, my big bro Jah Mashiac asked me to write a rap one day.
I questioned it for a bit like why do I need to write a rap? I’m not a rapper. But he talked me into it and I did it. I wish I could remember what all I said but my brother loved it because I used a lot of metaphors. But after he read it, he suggested that I start making music.
I didn’t think much of the idea because I thought I’m never gonna be a rapper…….until I actually started doing and I grew to actually love it. And until this day, I’m going hard and have my music on all different music platforms. I plan to get going strong until I’m one of the top independent artists known around the world!!!
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Before I started making music and in my beginning stages, I listened to a lot of Tech N9ne. The first album I heard by him was “Anghellic” and I been stuck on him ever since. A lot of people like to call me either Tech N9ne Jr or Tech N9ne son.
On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?
Right now I’m working on a project called “In The Beginning”. It’s a compilation of all of the songs I made back when I first started making music back in 2012-2013.
