Interview with RMJS

How did you come by your stage name?

Back in 2014, my best friend and I started creating progressive house mixes and mashups together. We uploaded them under the name, which was formed by the initials of our names with the exception that we took out the H of my real name Robin Michael Haas.

We thought RMHJS would be too long and RMJS would sound better and good to remember. Later I kept on releasing my own work and started doing DJ gigs under the same artist name until now.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I discovered music when I started learning to play the guitar at the age of 7. Later when I got the chance to mess around with Logic Pro X on my computer I found the inspiration to turn my written melodies into full tracks.

After getting lots of positive feedback on my single “Get Away”, which I made together with an old friend of mine, I knew that I want to keep on creating tracks that people would actually like and listen to.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

For my new track “Hold You Tight”, which I just released last month, I came up with the chords about a year ago but started getting back into it in November last year. From this point, everything started working out pretty well and I finished instrumental track within like 2 months. After coming up with a topic and writing the lyrics collaborating with Canadian artist Joe Borowsky, the track was finished after about 3 months.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

No. I always try my best writing songs but I’m by far not the best at what I do. Writing songs remains an activity for me, where I can have fun messing around with new stuff and working together with other artists like me to create something new that may be perhaps liked by other people too.

And other than that, I think no-one can be the “best” at it since we all have a different taste of what we like.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Yes, I’d like to thank everyone who keeps on streaming my music or giving me feedback about it, but especially I’d like to thank all the people that helped me with my productions, whether that be the ones who sing on a track of mine, the ones that helped me write the lyrics or the ones who always listen to my unfinished projects and leave me their opinions on it.”

How can fans find you?

On any digital music platform under the name RMJS or on my Twitter (@officialrmjs), Instagram (@rmjsmusic) or Facebook (rmjsmusic)
