Interview with Florida based artist Shaadoh Session

How did you come by your stage name?

My birth name and stage name is Shaadoh Session (pronounced sha-dow ) I am named after an Ancient African Tribe. I am of Egyptian and Ethiopian descent.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

At the age of 20, I discovered my love for music and knew that I wanted to become an artist. At that time I began songwriting and expressing my life stories and my emotions through songs.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

In a fashion sense, my style is self-inspired, I usually do what I’m feeling. Likewise, with writing music, I write songs as I’m feeling the beat. The beat has to speak to me and I have to be able to connect to it. It’s a feeling.

On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?

“Ride For U” is the first single off my upcoming album, it was inspired by heartbreak, as we all go through emotional roller coasters. Us ladies all want to be a “rider” for our man, but to have our man question our loyalty, or not value our love, there comes a time when you have to let him know how you truly feel. This song is an ode to anyone who’s ever had their heartbroken.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

My greatest challenge is sometimes finishing a project. At times I can be very hard on myself and maybe even be my worst critic but that’s only because I aim for perfection. But my work ethic is very strong. I am dedicated to get all the things in life that I see fit, and nothing will stop me. I’m consistent in my work because I’m eager to see all the results.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

My only competition is myself. “Comparison is an act of violence against self .” – Iyala Vanzant

What are your plans for the near future?

In the near future, I plan to become a major influential artist. I want to create my own unique style of music and navigate in a lane of my own.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

I’d like to thank the highest for allowing me to taste my dreams and giving me undeniable talent. And I’d like to thank those who helped turn my dream into a reality. And last but not least my two little munchkins for giving me the drive that I have.
