Ateo Feo talks about his craft, current projects and more
How did you come by your stage name?
Ateo Feo is Spanish for “Ugly Atheist”. I liked the name because I am part Hispanic, it rhymes, and I am an Ugly Atheist.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I’ve loved music my entire life. It’s not my full-time job at the moment but I would like it to be because it is my passion.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Satan, Gandhi, Kim Jong Un, John Holmes, and RuPaul.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
It is a satirical song about a fictional character called “The Devil”. Many people believe that The Devil is real. So I made a song playing into that fantasy.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
My greatest challenge is finding time to finish everything. I do everything myself, so it’s a very long process to mix, master, make album art, make a music video, edit, etc. I am just very determined and other than my job, I don’t have a social life or girlfriend so that helps.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
I do my own thing, so fuck yes.
What are your plans for the near future?
Hopefully, not getting the coronavirus and opening more people’s minds to my weird AZZ muzic!
