Interview with up and coming artist Felissia Mae

How did you come by your stage name?

I actually use to go by fefegirl when I was younger, but now that I’m older and more mature I wanted a more mature name. so I just decided to keep my legal name plus use my middle name and I feel it just goes well.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

My mother was a singer in the church growing up, once I was old enough (around 7) I realized I loved to sing and wanted to share my voice with whoever would listen just like my mom. when I was around 12 I started writing my own music and just couldn’t stop. I was like I’m gonna be famous one day and share my lyrics with the world.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I feel my style is very unique and not like anyone else. my idol growing up was Hillary duff though and I would accredit her to my passion for music.

On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?

I’ve had a lot of struggles in my life. I have a mental health diagnosis and my writing is what kept me going. my current project is about my life and a lot of what I’ve been through.

I was hospitalized for a few suicide attempts and was homeless for almost two years. Now I’m thriving and doing really well. It took me 5 years to work on this project of mine and I feel it’s time to share it with the world and make an impact on someone. this project of mine is my baby, my life, my story to share now.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

Honestly, my greatest challenge is trying to better myself and find myself once again. I was lost and really depressed. now I’m happy and living life. I’m very independent and resourceful and that has gotten me a long way.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I’m not better than anyone else but I would say im pretty good at what i do and I love what I do. it’s a passion of mine and I thrive at it.

What are your plans for the near future?

I’m in the works on new music and wanting to really focus on my career in the music industry. I’m not looking for fame but I’m looking to get noticed and share my story with the world.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

I’d like to thank my mother for always believing in me and always supporting me in my journey. I’d like to thank the few fans I do have right now that share and buy my music whenever they can. I’d also send a loud shout out to God for blessing me with this gift. He’s the one leading me for sure.

How can fans find you?

I’m on SoundCloud as Felissia mae, I’m on Facebook as mae felissia and I’m on Instagram as felissia_mae. I’m working on a YouTube still.

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?

Keep fighting your fight, don’t let haters bring you down or stand in your way. for a long time, I stop writing and singing because ppl would tell me horrible things. but I came back and realized no one is gonna stand in the way of my dreams, so here I come world. just be yourself and do what you love. it’s worth it.
