Rick Habana talks about upcoming projects, sense of style and more
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Being born and raised in Los Angles, I was in the hub of Smooth Jazz Music. I caught the bug to want to producer this style by consistently seeing the best Smooth Jazz artist performing throughout Southern California. Also, I adopted my passion for music from my Cuban roots. My father is a musician that has a passion for Latin Jazz.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I came up with the concept “The Collective” by collaborating with international musicians from all over the world. “The Collective” will have multiple volumes as I continue my ongoing search for new talented musicians from all parts of the globe.
What are your plans for the near future?
I recently released my first single “Smooth It Out” that received radio spins on over 50 Smooth Jazz radio stations in March and April. The track landed most added on Billboard Smooth Jazz in its first week of release. My plan is to continue to keep the ball rolling and release my next recording “Cheers” in April and “The Collective” Volume 1 in June.
