How did you come by your stage name?
I will say the universe choose and give me my name. At first, when I started rapping at thirteen I had the name ”Lil gangster” that name was given to me based on the ways and things I was doing at that time, and I was also the smallest among my peers most of them were 20, 25 30, etc.
And It changes to ”Acardabra” when I started seeing my self as an Emo person later change it to Yakuza” I even when by Tissidy and Lil cum in high school, But my Hash Blink was originally given in my dream I remembered dreaming and everyone was calling me Hash Blink and when I woke up I decided to use it, I when ahead a change my name from Tissidy to Hash Blink.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I started loving music from the first time I heard it. And when 50 cents PIMP came up in 2005 It just moves me in a new direction. I still remembered when my mom used to smack me for sayings such rude lyrics while she was around. But I was a kid who didn’t know what I was saying.
By 2013 I was already the best dancer in my community/neighborhood and sometimes when I battle dance we ended up in rap battle and that was when everything started happening I started battle rapping and also dancing at first I thought I was just doing something that any kid my age will do but as time goes on I just got bigger and better and I decided to do this for life.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I will say my style is unique and even though I listen and learn for other musicians like Kenny Rogers, Don Williams, Jay z, Eminem, Sarkodie, etc and all types of genres of music and artists I still don’t see any of my sense of style. 1, my way of dressing 2, my sound, 3 my lyrical abilities to create all styles and genres of music I consider myself as a lyrical Genius.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I’m currently working on my first album, which will include lots of features, The album will have a different style and type of music like” Latin pop, trap, afro, etc this album will showcase my lyrical ability. I came up with this concept based on the facts that I grew up listening to multiple styles and sounds music and they have all influenced me today and I will love to apply that in my album even if it’s just a small one.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I will say my greatest challenges are finding other artists to work with. I spend about 6 hours every day practicing my stage presence, writing more lyrics, etc I love my art and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to give it that boost.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Yes, because I sound like myself I write and rap like myself. At first, I didn’t think I was the best until I realized what makes me unique. When I came to the United States every other rappers or music was sounding the same and I thought since I don’t sound like these people’s I won’t climb the ladder. But when I did more research I notice that my being from a different part of this world was what makes me different and unique.
What are your plans for the near future?
My plan is to get better at what I do And take my art to a more higher level.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
I will like to shout out myself and Everyone that listen to Hash Blink and bought the music I love y’all.
