Exclusive Interview with Dommy Blanco
Exclusive Interview with Dommy Blanco
How did you come by your stage name?
It’s just who I am. Dommy Blanco. It was a nickname growing up.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
Since I was a little kid I wanted to create. My buddy Brandon that lived across the street from me, my cousin Anthony and myself would make YouTube videos when we were only 10-11 years old. From then on out I always carried that passion to create.
Whether it was fashion, music, visuals, or design I was interested in. I decided to take my music career to the next level first a few years ago when I created my Sweet and Sour Volume 1. Looking forward to completing the trilogy. Music is just one craft of mine that I possess, I can’t wait to expand and push creative boundaries.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
The way I grew up, I just wear and do what I like. The people around me, my friends. I don’t get much influence from things mainstream. Robert Raczyk and Tehquan Gibbs my two closest friends growing up have a lot of inspiration for my style. We are tastemakers, style came to us easily.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
Sweet and Sour was a concept I came up with a few years ago because it correlates with my sound. I make sweet music and I make sour music. Some might like it, some might not but it will still be consumed. I also mess with the Chinese takeout movie nights. Ha!
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Originality. I think I’m best at doing me.
What are your plans for the near future?
To continue working in the studio on Sweet & Sour Volume 2 and visuals I’m doing. I also plan to help direct other artists to reach their visionary goals.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Yes two people that help make my visions come to life visual artist Robert Raczyk and producer James Cycles.
How can fans find you?
What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?
Be authentic and never give up.
