My stage name is TM. It is the acronym of my First and Last Name

How did you come by your stage name?

My stage name is TM. It is the acronym of my First and Last Name but it is Pronounced Tim. Everyone calls me Tim and I wanted to stay true to myself so I just found a creative way to keep it the same.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I grew up singing lead in the choir and playing the drums since the age of 5 years old in my grandfather’s church. I always found myself overly excited anytime it came to playing the drums, singing, or even performing in plays. It was a joy that I couldn’t explain at the time. I have been involved in music throughout my entire life. I was in a quartet group that traveled all over the NYC Metropolitan area.

We performed at Amateur night at the Apollo, McDonald Gospel Fest, and many other stages, I sang background for a few local artists performing in many venues across the NYC area. I was also part of a few different cover bands in NYC and as well as my time living in Atlanta. I just never let the music go. I’ve been singing my entire life. I worked many jobs, I have a career in HR and even studied hard and recently received my master’s degree but nothing satisfies me more than getting in the studio and making music.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I believe I have my own style. I like to take risks and sometimes I like to keep it simple. My style comes from what I see and what I feel. I wouldn’t say that any particular person or thing is where I get my style from.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

I wanted this project to be more personal. In the past, I would always write songs about love or having a good time at a party. I wanted to speak about the things that I feel and really sing from a different place and emotion. My EP “Fall Back” is about me finally taking a step back from things and people that may have been in my way, start focusing on me, and believe in myself.

The moment I did those things, I noticed I got more accomplished and was able to bring this project to fruition. I spend too much time trying to save the world and sacrifice my own happiness and dreams. This project is a dream come true but it didn’t happen until I fell back. So that why it’s called “Fall Back”.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I am a go-getter. Whatever I want to achieve I go after it with all I have in me. I will work until my legs fall off. I don’t like to fail and I won’t. However, sometimes I take on too much and I put a lot of pressure on myself. I am so eager to win and complete my goals, sometimes I am moving too fast and don’t get a chance to enjoy the process. Slow down TM!!! LOL

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I believe that I am in my own lane. I don’t try to copy anyone or be anyone. I certainly have a long way to go but I am great at what I do.

What are your plans for the near future?

I want to collab with a few artists. Working with people like Jazmine Sullivan, Ari Lenox, Doja Cat, John Legend just to name a few would be amazing and a dream come true. I am also looking to work with local independent artists like myself. I will be shooting a music video from the EP as well. My hope is to get my music played on the radio and soon played in television and movies.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

I first thank GOD, who is the head of my life. Nothing would be possible without him. Second, to my biggest supporter and cheerleader, my mom. I love you so much and I thank you for everything you sacrificed to get me to this point. To my family, I love you all for your support and motivation and means so much. My producers Kayjay and Antwone, these guys are beast and I wouldn’t be close to where I am without them.

How can fans find you?

You can find me on the following platforms

Twitter: tmmusicent

Instagram: tmmusicent

My single is available on all major platforms: Apple, Spotify, Amazon, Tidal ‘Fall Back” TM

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?

Don’t give up. Keep pushing! Doubt is a normal feeling in this industry but don’t let it stop you. There is enough greatness in this world for all of us to win.
