Interview with upcoming Star Mi

Mi is an R&B artist from Pennsylvania with amazing talent. The Philadelphia native started her journey with music at an early age. One of her favorite artists growing up was Micheal Jackson. Growing up with her 6 brothers, which gave her the ability to be a strong individual both physically and mentally. Mi begins to realize that she had a talent for singing and decided to try doing what she loves the most, music. Using the influences from the likes of Mary j Blige, Beyonce, Chris Brown she developed a great treatment for success by adding her own personal talent to the lesson.

Mi began to take her career seriously expanding her talent from the studio to the stage by performing with Pnb Rock, Casanova, & Uncle Murda which created a strong core fan base for her music to blow. Mi has the voice of gold and made the decision of taking her music all the way to the top with her first album. Her upcoming album titled “Electric Wave” will be released later this year which includes the first single “Almost” where she expresses for losing her love interest. This song is followed by 6 other smash-hit records with a crazy twist and a breath of fresh air when it comes to a new sound.

Mi has the talent, the voice, and the vibes to make it in the music industry. She is the next new hot commodity. Mi has a mainstream sound that will and could compete with the top 10 songs out today. When it comes to creating a perfect song, Mi has the skills of writing her own music and the skill set to apply it to any type of music that comes her way. With this all-round talent, which is unheard of in today’s artist, Mi is the whole package plus more. 

When did you first discover your love for music?

I had discovered my love for music when I realized who Michael Jackson was. I used to watch all his music videos back to back. At the age of four and five, I remember telling my mom I wanted Michael Jackson’s glove. My mom made me a glove. From that moment forward I realized who he was. That is when I discovered music.

What made you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

To Be honest. Straightforward. What made me realize I need to pursue my career came from my fans, support but most of all my living. The streets aren’t fair.  The world isn’t fair And they are only becoming worse. With my voice, I need to spread the love. Bring that feeling back. It is a now or never thing. That made me realize this has to happen.

When did you know that you were going to make music a career?

At the age of four. I realize what I can do with my voice. I was very very express fully as a kid. Once I learn what I could do with my voice. I started singing everywhere. It was a wrap.

To what do you accredit your sense of style?

Being free-spirited. Being accredited to my sense of style is learning when to mix passion with my feelings for when I am singing. At any given moment. Freestyle if need be. No one can do it better than that feeling but Mi with my own experiences in life. That is my own sense of style.

Would you prefer to be independent or signed to a major?

Straight-forward fact. I prefer independence. You are really free, once you know exactly what you are doing. Like full. On the flip side I am blessed. I found great people that I wouldn’t mind MezTheProd to my manager. Once I learn exactly what I am doing. I too will be free

How do you feel about the present state of the music industry?

I mean I have my go too’s. Pop smoke, Fab, Meek, Durk jus to name a few people who can make me bob my head and dance. The present state of the music industry is ok. It could be better. The community is trying more now then they have ever done to make music a big thing. The new cumbers especially.

There are a lot of unsigned artists like Mi not being heard when we should be. Because we are different and on the low, we really got some fire music. 2020 may feel like a bad year, but I feel as though it will open new doors with greatness to come. The present state of music is climbing for greatness. Too much has fallen for us not to be climbing for greatness.

What musical influences did you listen to growing up that helped to mold you into the artist you are today?

Michael Jackson, SWV, 702, Biggie Smalls, Mary. Bliage. The list goes on. They have influenced me to become a character with the change, Hope, and expression. I have a voice.

What do you think your “biggest break” or “greatest opportunity has been so far in your musical career?

 Meeting Mez CEO of Aechelon Records. Mez showed me from the start that there was no time to waste. He dedicated himself from day one. He is on the same tip It is now or never. Becoming who you need to be doesn’t happen overnight. He supports that all the way. Also opening for PnbRock, Casanova, Uncle Murda. My opportunities started small. I will always be grateful for that.

What are your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic in the studio?

One of the greatest challenges that I have seen to learn along the way is keeping up with the next Artist. Different styles can catch you off guard. Even so, they are expecting you to boom it because I have shown I can touch pretty much any beat. My attribute to my work ethic is knowing my words before placing them on paper. Witty with the mindset to freestyle.

Today’s music seems to be about collaborations with the “hottest” artist out. Who would you want to work with on a project? And why?

Pop Smoke. People think I may blow that out. But energy is key. His energy is powerful. I would love to also work with Tory Lanez. He is a free-styling Artist as well. So learning from someone with the same skill as you are sometimes a must. But most importantly I would really love to sit down with Timberland and create some fire beats. Working with these selected few would definitely help bring a whole different side to me as bringing out my music.

What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music? What will people be able to say about you as an artist?

The impression I want to leave on my listeners is that I get it. I want my listeners to know I have had an experience just like you. I can relate. Something people can definitely say about me as an artist is that I am definitely real in real life. They can really say she wrote every lyric. She understands.

If you had the opportunity to change something about the music industry what would it be?

Change is a big thing. If I had a strong opportunity to change the music industry the way we shut each other out from Collaborating with each other to make music. Two people that have beef could definitely have a hit song because they both do music. Same thing with Ego. They were it like chains on their neck now. One man’s ego has stopped success for three people. Let alone a HIT RECORD. Missing opportunities is something I want to help change.

Do you have other interests or talents you would like to share with us?

I can do hair. I know Karate. I have interests in science, nature, earth, things along with that nature. I am a real nerd. I love to be taught new things. Knowledge. Oh, yea, and I can definitely cook. I should do a cooking show.

How do you like to enjoy your relaxation time away from the music?

Family. Every now and again you have to come back to you. Anything that is included in you should have the best time with you. Family, friends, lovers. Whatever it is that is a part of you always gives a value significant amount of time towards that. Those were the ones that started from the bottom now we here. Family is my relaxation away from the music along with traveling. Goes back to being a nerd. I love history.

What image do you think your music conveys and why did you choose this type of image for your music?

My music coneys of mi showing comfortably with showing emotion. Stating what is real and what is not. I am comfortable with myself. So now I am ok with showing. And the reason I choose this because it can not be any other way. My soul won’t allow me to. At all. I am Mi. When people feel it and see it. Real will only recognize real. People will get with me and they will support.

What projects do you have in the making currently and what are your plans for the near future?

Well, I am very excited. I have been working on an upcoming album for the last almost 2 years. (sheesh) I have been saying for the longest I am coming out with my music to my fans, basically everyone. However, I wasn’t comfortable with any of the vibes I was receiving from hidden agendas. I kept stalling. But to see how we are all living in the world right now. People may think singing is not the right time right now. How I see it.

Singing and I mean singing to where you feel it to want to cry feeling. It makes your standstill. I don’t care if that moment was 1 minute. You paused to listen. Giving up has never been the option at all. Finding the right time was. With the plans that have been set in stone before meeting my manager Mez CEO of Aechelon Records the plans always and forever will be to go hard and go even harder.

Make moves that no one thought could happen while the money pile. They don’t want to hear you talk. That is how you know they never learn how to manifest. I will work on my plan and plan my work with great people. It is a beautiful thing to bring your dream to life.

What is your ultimate goal at the end of your career? What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

That is heavy. Because almost anyone would say everything they can think of with a list added to it. My goal is to make sure I get to everyone’s heart to bring love back circulating around for us to build off of to make the world great again. Not just America. I have a gift, it isn’t meant to be wasted. For all Artist who comes across this, never take you for granted. You are the big piece to the puzzle. Always go with your gut.

And lead with certainty. Mix feelings will give you a lot of lessons. Just have one mission. Just be sure of you. Push. Do the footwork. If you want it, get it. When you go hard for yourself others will too. Real ones. Save your money. Cut bad habits. Show you really need music in your life. And don’t think small-minded, you don’t just want your city to hear from you. Nah, you want the whole world to hear you. Don’t be stuck on opinions just suggestions on how to better yourself. Believe in you more.
