Tamer exclusive interview with Muzique Magazine
How did you come by your stage name?
I didn’t want to hide behind my stage name. I do everything I want and to which I like to stand under my own name and that’s how I wanted to represent myself.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
As a little boy, I took a pose with a door squeak. I wanted music and danced. It was clear to my parents “this boy would come on stage at some point.” I started with paid dance performances, later on, I added modeling and in 2011 I got the big record deal. And so my dream began to come true…
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
In fashion, it is “Kemal Doğulu” from Turkey. In music, there are a lot of artists I admire but I don’t have a specific one as a role model. I think every person, every artist is and should be individual.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
My current single is about my last great love relationship. Tamer is always known as a good-humored dancing person and artist, but I am a very emotional person and only very close friends and family know this side. When I wanted to gain a foothold in the music industry again and wanted to look for a song, the producer pushed me to record this song “Verbrannt” in the studio, because it is very authentic and personal.
I was unsure whether I would like to reveal myself like that, but I got a lot of support from my closest friends in this regard and luckily I finally decided to do so. Today I am very happy and incredibly proud to have embodied my own lyrics with my own script for the music video!
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I learned from my parents to be very patient and always listen carefully. There are things that have to linger or that younger people have to learn from more experienced adults. If I have achieved something in life up to now then only because I listened to my parents and experienced people and to my gut feeling.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
That’s a mean question 🙂 There can always be someone better at what you do and I think you should be able to lose sometimes. But in what I do with a passion I know that I do it with love and full of energy. And I think that’s what defines me and my person as an artist. I am honest and authentic with my fans.
What are your plans for the near future?
Since the feedback on my single Verbrannt is going so well, I would like to work on my next single and it will also be in German.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
I would like to thank everyone who does not deal superficially with music and art and appreciate everything that is fun and joy. It’s not easy in the music industry and it’s nice to see that there are still people who support something and not just because it might appeal to someone optically. Thank you for being there and thank you to all my family and friends for supporting me until today.
