Lovely Marie talks about her craft, sense of style and more

How did you come by your stage name?

Marie is actually my middle name.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I was around 7-8 yrs old I grew up in an abusive home (not with my parents) and I was extremely good at writing poetry. I was so good at it that my English/writing teachers always wanted me to write poetry and would give me extra credit just so they could read what I wrote. By the time I was in high school I took my writing to a different level to where I knew that I was good enough to be an artist. I just never had the right people behind me at that time so I waited for the right moment to go after it.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

My producer Jodi S brought the best out of me. He always would tell me you have that star quality that everyone looks for you can rap, dance, and you’re an actress you need to start taking it more seriously.

Him already being in the music game for a while he already knew what he was doing. He had me in the studio every day and would make me correct any area that I lacked in. He is also an amazing producer and artist himself. I owe him all of the credit without him I wouldn’t be as good as I am and he still until this day pushes me harder and harder to be the best.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

My life is a concept. I have been through so much hell in my life. From running the streets, fights, to my dad being killed, bad relationships, almost dying, losing my home from my roof collapsing. I am a nurse as well and during those years of nursing.

I kept struggling even with an education. My life was nothing but turmoil since a kid and one day I finally had enough and became an exotic dancer and it literally saved my life I got back on my feet within a matter of months I started my own businesses, and now I’m chasing my music.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

My greatest challenge was surviving the obstacles in my life from what I been through I shouldn’t be alive to talk about my story. The streets chewed me up and spit me out into a hustler. Only God can stop me at this point.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I am one of the best upcoming female artists.
