LIL SPADE Interview with Muzique Magazine
How did you come by your stage name?
I follow in my father’s footsteps and they would call him Spade growing up and I was his firstborn so they call me Lil Spade.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I would always listen to music to get me through everything in life growing up, I always knew I wanted to make music at some point, and after releasing previous projects I kept working on my craft and getting better and better.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I listened to a lot of rappers that actually went through stuff in life and I saw how they would put it in their songs and I would always want to make songs about what I was going through instead of making up things.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I basically went off of how I was feeling at the moment and how everything was going in my life at the time.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
One of my greatest challenges is actually coming from where I come from and making things happen with the cards I was dealt. No matter what, I would always put my dreams first and use my pain and my voice to get through everything I was going through in life, I used that as motivation and used my dreams as something I have to accomplish. I can’t stop I have a lot of people counting on me.
