Interview with writer-artist FER1ST
How did you come by your stage name/band/brand?
Well, my last name is Ferguson so I came up with FER1ST that way. It comes from my family.
When did you discover your love for writing and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
Well, I’m a writer. I like to create. I write books, movies, and a lot of things. I love music so I thought why not. I put everything else out there so why not do music. I have some NEW music coming out later this year. I want to take my time with this album. Mental is what it’s called. I have some producers that I want to work with…. so this one is going to be a minute.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I would like to say I get inspired by Oprah a lot. I just like her sense of freedom, it’s a lot of them. Possible everybody in the industry sense of style.
On your current business venture… How did you come up with the concept?
I own a company called Matchlash. It’s a faux mink eyelash and makeup company that is branching out into clothes. I came up with the eyelash part from researching beauty products and it happened.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I would say for me would be the respect of the process. You got a million and one people in your ear saying hurry up but really at this point, I must take my time.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
I’m getting there. lol… I know I’m loved and missed so I’m thankful for that.
What impression would you like fans to be left with after experiencing your craft?
I want them to be encouraged to stand up for themselves….in their truth. Be fearless and strong but mean it.
