Preparing physically for major runway shows is a regular part of a fashion model’s life. Please talk us through what you do to prepare physically for walking in major events like NYFW or Miami Swim Week?
Preparing physically for major shows like NYFW or Miami Swim Week is something I’ve grown into as I’ve gained more experience. When I started, I didn’t realize how much goes into it beyond just walking confidently. Now, I have a routine that works for me and helps me feel strong, confident, and ready.
I like to keep my workouts simple but consistent. I’ll do Pilates to stay toned and flexible, plus light strength training to feel strong, especially since some outfits can be heavy or tricky to move in. I also love going on walks—they clear my mind and keep me active without feeling like I’m overdoing it.
Hydration is a big focus for me too, especially leading up to Miami Swim Week. I make sure I’m drinking a ton of water and eating clean—fruits, veggies, and whole foods that give me energy and make me feel good.
Sleep is a non-negotiable for me. When I first started, I’d be so nervous and stay up overthinking things, but I’ve realized how much better I perform when I’m well-rested. Now I make it a point to get enough sleep, no matter how busy things get before a show.
Another thing I prioritize is skincare, which I actually learned from watching my mom prep for her shoots when I was younger. A few days before a show, I’ll amp up my skincare routine with extra moisturizing masks and take extra care of my skin so it’s glowing and ready for all the makeup and cameras.
And finally, I always take time to practice my walk—especially if I’m wearing heels or outfits that require extra focus. My mom used to tell me, “Confidence is in the prep,” and that’s always stuck with me. When I know I’ve done everything I can to feel my best, it’s so much easier to step on that runway with confidence.
Who has been the biggest influence or mentor in your modeling career so far and why?
The biggest influence in my modeling career has definitely been my mom. She was a model herself and worked with so many incredible brands across Canada, so I grew up watching her absolutely kill it in the industry. She’s always been my inspiration—not just because of her success, but because of how she carried herself.
When I was little, I used to beg her to host photoshoots for me so I could feel just like her. Watching her work taught me so much about confidence, hard work, and how to be professional but still have fun with it. Even now, she’s the first person I call when I need advice or just a little pep talk before a big show.
What I admire most about her is how authentic she’s always been. She taught me that the best way to stand out is to stay true to who you are, and that’s something I carry with me in every shoot, show, and opportunity. She’s not just my biggest mentor—she’s my biggest cheerleader, too, and I feel so lucky to have her as both.
What 3 brands are on your bucket list to work with?
If I had to pick three brands that are on my bucket list, they would be:
1. Sports Illustrated – Being featured in Sports Illustrated would be such a dream. Their swim editions are all about celebrating confidence and individuality, and I love how they’ve evolved to showcase so many diverse and empowering women.
2. Victoria’s Secret – Growing up, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was always the ultimate. I’d watch it and dream of walking down that runway one day. Their recent focus on celebrating beauty in all its forms makes me admire the brand even more.
3. Revolve – Revolve has become such a major player in the fashion world, especially with their fun events and campaigns. Their vibe is so chic yet approachable, and working with them would feel like the perfect mix of creativity and connection with fashion lovers everywhere.
These brands all represent confidence, beauty, and empowerment, and being a part of their world would be such an honor!
Music often sets the tone for runway shows—what type of music or vibe do you think works best for the runway?
Music is everything when it comes to setting the vibe for a runway show! I think the best runway music strikes a balance between dramatic and fun—it should make you feel powerful while keeping the energy high.
For something dramatic, I love moody beats with a cinematic feel, like a strong bassline or intense strings. Think of songs that make you feel like you’re walking into your main character moment. Tracks like those instantly create a commanding atmosphere and make every step on the runway feel bold and intentional.
At the same time, adding something fun is key to keeping the energy alive. Upbeat remixes of classic songs or funky house tracks can turn a runway into a celebration. It’s the kind of vibe that makes the models feel confident and the audience want to get up and dance.
When the music has both drama and fun, it pulls everyone in, makes the show unforgettable, and reminds you why fashion is an experience, not just clothes. It’s the perfect combination to keep the runway electric!
If you could have one artist or band perform live while you’re walking the runway, who would it be and why?
If I could have one artist perform live while I’m walking the runway, it would have to be Dua Lipa. Her music has that perfect mix of drama, fun, and confidence that would make every step feel powerful. Songs like Levitating or Don’t Start Now are upbeat and bold, and they bring this unapologetic energy that’s perfect for the runway.
Dua also has such a strong presence herself—she’s effortlessly cool and knows how to own a stage, which would just elevate the whole vibe of the show. I feel like having her perform would make walking the runway feel like a party, and honestly, who wouldn’t want that?
Many influencers struggle to balance authenticity with branded content. What’s your strategy for balancing authenticity with branded content on social media?
Balancing authenticity with branded content is so important, especially now when people can tell right away if something doesn’t feel genuine. For me, it’s all about working with brands that truly align with who I am and what I believe in. If I wouldn’t use or wear something in real life, I won’t promote it—simple as that.
I also make sure my branded content feels personal and fits naturally into my page. I like to share stories or real experiences with the products so it feels less like an ad and more like something I’m genuinely excited about. For example, if I’m working with a fashion brand, I’ll style the pieces in a way that matches my vibe and talk about why I love them instead of just listing features.
It’s also important to keep a balance between sponsored and non-sponsored posts. I make sure to share plenty of my own content, like personal updates, fun moments, or just things that inspire me. That way, my audience knows I’m not just here to sell things—I’m here to connect with them.
At the end of the day, I think authenticity comes from being selective and staying true to yourself. When you’re genuinely excited about a brand or product, it shows, and that’s what builds trust with your audience.
What trends do you see emerging on social media in 2025, and how do you plan to adapt to them as an influencer?
Social media is always evolving, and in 2025, I see a few exciting trends really taking off. One of the biggest is the shift toward more real and unfiltered content. People are craving authenticity over perfection, so I plan to keep sharing those relatable, behind-the-scenes moments that show my true self. I think balancing aspirational content with everyday life will only become more important.
