Hustle Gee Interview with Muzique Magazine
How did you come by your stage name?
My first stage name was actually given to me by a friend, my first time rapping I went into my friend’s studio and after recording a verse he said I blew upon it like a grenade and said yo that could be it so I ran with that and changed the spelling to “grenaid” . And got known in school like that. But after I left school I wanted to change that so after that, it was “GeeVon” a mix of my real name and nickname then hustle Gee came about organically and that’s been me since 2017 or 18’ I believe.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I had to be 15 or 16 writing poems in school and had a Niche for it and one day I came home my mom was actually writing a song she asked me to help her write because I was good with poems and punchlines and when she noticed I was good at it she went and bought me a mic and laptop and it’s been history ever since.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Coming up I was impressed by Lil Wayne, Big Sean, team eastside peezy, future, doughboyz cashout, a bit of drake, and a few others. I really just grasped a little bit of something from everyone and helped me get a feel for how I wanted to make my mark on the world and what direction I wanted to take it.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
Honestly for my EP “The Unspoken Hustle” I just wanted to display a bit of my versatility and put out some songs I had been sitting on and for my first EP ever I’ve been told I did a good job especially doing everything myself no team behind me. And my two new singles “numb” and “changes” just shows the growth in my music they definitely speak for themselves.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I want to say the only challenge I ever have is finding beats I genuinely like and feel. My greatest attribute when it comes to my work ethic.
Is the fact that it’s easy for me to come up with hooks and concepts because they all stem from real-life situations or just things that are currently happening to me and around me.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Yeah for sure! I believe I’m in my own category completely and I can do what others can’t and make it sound good every time.
What are your plans for the near future?
God willing I plan to make a bigger media presence and put together a project that’s going to be labeled a classic and hopefully collaborate with a few artists, producers, and videographers I feel will help build my vision.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
First and foremost I want to thank the highest for giving me life and time to live out my dream and career then my family in Detroit, Bermuda, Alabama, New York, and everywhere else they know who they are, and a big shoutout to BHRS and slim zeek.
How can fans find you?
I’m on every music platform as “Hustle Gee”

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?
Doesn’t matter how good of a rapper you are or how many songs you put out the groundwork and networking had to happen in order for you to be heard and seen! Scared money doesn’t make any money! Invest in yourself if you want someone else to
