Recently signed by SGNB Records USA, from “The Land of the Long White Cloud” Aotearoa (New Zealand) Hybrid Blues are a 4-piece band, Mike Everard, Adam Pendred, Mark Schaumann fronted by award-winning singer-songwriter Roy Hudson.
After Roy’s impressive musical career in the UK/Europe, he has returned to his Home Land in furthering his passion for the DNA to all modern music today, the Blues.
Their Long-Awaited New Self-titled Album due for release September 2020 with 11 tracks from Blues, Blues Rock, Country Rock, Latin, Stoner Blues, Rock, Soft Rock fulfills the pallet of a Wild Range of Music Lovers throughout the World with a Genre that can only be described as… “Hybrid”.
How did you come by your band name?
Like naming a child we felt it was important to find an Original Name and most importantly something that sum’s up to our Original Music. Being the Mixed Soup of Genres it is, the word “Hybrid” came to mind, and with the songs loosely based around the Original Source of Modern Music itself “The Blues”, “Hybrid Blues” was born.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
It all started as more of a form of self-therapy, and not partially enjoying learning and performing covers, I decided it was much more fun and daring to write and perform Originals.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
As the meaning of the word itself “Hybrid,” I’ve been influenced by many artists/bands/songwriters of all Genres and Decades, ranging from Alter Bridge right through to ZZTop.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
Life
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
The amount of work expecting from Original Bands, Social Media, Booking Gig’s, Costs of Recording, towards seeking the reward of being supported by a Respectable and Hard-Working Label.
Keep it Simple, Keep it Real.
What are your plans for the near future?
Keep Creating and until HB Album II April 2021, keep spreading the Love via our music.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?
Kia Kaha (NZ Maori word for Stay Strong) in the belief of your creations/music, but simply do it cos you love creating/performing with the ambitions of solely giving at least one of your listeners something they can personally hold on to, as many artists/bands/songwriters have inspired and done for us throughout our lives. Forget about the Riches success can bring, Live, Love, Enjoy what you do and whatever success comes of it, is just a bonus.
