How did you come by your stage name?
My parents moved to Los Angeles before I was born. Given that I was later to be born in the US my mother granted me the middle name, Dylan. For years my full name was “Mayan Dylan Ragones” until the age of 13, that though it was extremely hard to move to a new country and make a drastic life change, pretty much start a whole new life and leave everything behind, my parents decided it was time to go back to Israel to reunite with our family.
When I moved to the Middle East with my family, my parents filed for a family name change due to issues with the original name. My full name later became “Mayan Dylan Gonen”. Yet In the Middle East middle names aren’t common and due to that Dylan was not recognized as part of my full name.
My name has deep meaning in my heart because it always reminds me of where I came from and who I am. That’s I chose Dylan MG as my stage name.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I started humming before I was able to talk and have been obsessed with music ever since notes hit my ear for the first time. I always knew that I was gonna make music but I truly understood that this was my path after I finished my first song.
I had so much fun writing and expressing myself with every lyric and every note, that it hit me, this is what I wanna do forever. I saw that everything that had to do with creating music made me extremely happy and fulfilled with myself. To top it off I fell in love with performing before an audience.
The energy that I get from the audience every show, that way that I just express myself on stage and see the happiness and feelings I put into the crowd makes me feel like I’m soaring in clouds. I get chills even thinking about it.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I’ve gotten a lot of my inspiration from amazing artists like Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Jacquees, Russ, Drake. I pretty much grew up on their music.
I always just found their work to be so unique and really authentic. It’s what made me wanna pursue expressing myself to the fullest and just focus on bringing Dylan MG out completely on every track.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept? Every project reflects a certain point in my life. My current project reflects on the feelings that I was going through with an amazing woman I have in my life. I’m a pisces so when
