Lose You To Love Me Cover by a college student, Jerry Noel

Who says you need a professional team to make professional music videos?

Jerry Noel. I am 19 and currently a student at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA. My passion is Computer Science but I also love music and have decided to turn that love into a hobby where I create piano covers on YouTube.

Fortunately, I also like to take pictures and record videos, all of which I learned a few years after learning to play the piano. With this, I have also decided to not only play the piano on camera but also professionally produce, direct, and edit my videos.

I hope to continue pursuing my hobby and making more videos as my first actual music video cover, which now has over 70,000 views on YouTube, received a ton of support from my friends, family, and fans.

When did you first discover your love for music?

I grew up listening to pop songs on the radio and would even let them run while I went to sleep. Each time I heard a song, I imagined myself being there when it was written and recorded. This all happened from the age of 10 to 15.

Once I turned 15, I started learning the piano and that is when my love for music completely spiraled. I finally started learning some of the songs that I had heard on the piano. This gave me the feeling that I was imagining in the years prior; I felt like I was finally part of the song.

To what do you accredit your sense of style?

Like many people out there, I too have a few people that I look up to. After I turned 16, I began looking at piano covers on YouTube. I stumbled upon two channels that I knew I was going to love forever. The first goes by the YouTube name: Pianistmiri.

Her style of playing blows me away. I have tried to adopt some of her hand techniques. The other goes by the YouTube name: Costantino Carrara Music. His videos are professionally recorded. I have adopted his style of recording to produce my music video covers.

What musical influences did you listen to growing up that helped to mold you into the artist you are today?

Growing up, I mostly listened to pop stars such as but not limited to, Selena Gomez, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Adele, and Rihanna. Their music always resonated well with me and the music videos that went with their songs were something that I always envisioned myself doing.

Do you have other interests or talents you would like to share with us?

I know how to: use professional DSLR cameras, record and edit videos, and write a script for a short movie/music video.

What projects do you have in the making currently and what are your plans for the near future?

After my first actual music video cover, I had put a poll on my Instagram. I asked if I should have “guest stars” in my music videos. An overwhelming 86% voted yes. Thereafter, I began inviting my friends to be in my music videos.

I am always trying to make my next one better than the previous one. My next music video cover will have not just actors but a singer and will be in a different location than my previous videos.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

There are many people out there who’s passion lies somewhere else and does music as a hobby. But for anyone who is pursuing music either as a career or just for fun, I would highly recommend you enjoy doing it and not because of the money on the other side that can come from going big. I would also suggest that they leverage social media to their advantage.

It does not cost anyone anything to show the world their musical talent(s). You will mess up the first few times, either in the way you composed your music, created that music video, or advertised yourself to the world. But you have to realize that and improve moving forward.

Is there anyone you would like to thank?

My friends have always been there for me. When I was not good at the piano, they believed in me and supported me. I would like to thank them, as well as my teachers in high school for also believing in me and allowing me to play in front of 1,000 plus people twice. There are many people who I do not know who watch my videos, so I would also like to thank them as well.

How can potential fans find you?

Currently, anyone can find me through my social media pages.
