Interview With Singer/Songwriter – Roddan

Muzique Mag. When did you start making music and taking it serious?

” After years of playing lead guitar with other musicians, I became a bit frustrated working with their lack of direction and motivation to write new, original material.”

Muzique Mag. Do you feel that the industry needs more artist like yourself?
“Not at all! There are so many talented artists in the world today, and our uniqueness is what gives the industry life and a pulse. What is needed, is more substantial revenue streams for artists to make a decent living.”

Muzique Mag. Would you prefer to be independent or signed to a major?
“Based upon my research, being an independent is the way to go, i.e., retaining complete control of our art, and the direction the music goes over time.”

Muzique Mag. How do you feel about pirating?
“It appears in our digital world, it’s simply an issue we have to live with to some extent.”

Muzique Mag. Who do you feel are the best singers?
“That question depends on what you mean by singer. I tend to gravitate to singers who write their own songs. James Taylor, The Beatles, Patty Griffin, and Gina Chavez (on my new EP, “Bleed 432″) are a few of my favorites.”

Muzique Mag. Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
” I feel my greatest strength is writing, and though I am proud of my work, I can humbly say I am by no means the best!)

Muzique Mag. Have you won any awards?
“My song “Reconciliation” from my debut album :Music House” was a semi-finalist in the 2016 International Song Writing Contest.”

Muzique Mag. Who was your inspiration?
“Patty Griffin’s body of works helped me through a difficult time in my life. Although their were many other artists who have inspired me, I have to give Griffin the top credit. That is why I wrote a tribute to her, “Patty Jean” on my Bleed 432 EP.

Muzique Mag. What is your favorite song?
“In My Life by the Beatles.”

Muzique Mag. What is your ultimate goal at the end of your career?
“It would be rewarding to spraed my songs to a wider audience, either through my own recordings, or other artists performing them, and generate enough income to continue writing and recording full-time.”

Muzique Mag. What are you currently working on and how can the people find you?
“I continue to write and perform as much as possible, and am working on putting together a U.S. tour.” (Music House) (Bleed 432)
