CHRISTINE REIDHEAD: MAMA AFRICA!

Men who have found purpose do not beg for recognition. This is the true story of Christine Reidhead, CEO of AfrikRising, whose pass-time passions shot her into the limelight in such a short period.

The vision to establish AfrikRising hit the mom of two boys right after her challenging ordeal through motherhood as a single parent. Her heart began to go out to children born into deplorable living conditions whose only desire was to have a better life. Moved by the great need, she saw in some remote parts Africa, Reidhead thought not to sit back but give back and inspire others to do the same.

In 2019, Christine birthed the AfrikRising nonprofit, intending to serve the underserved in Africa, by assisting with necessities, services, and education to improve Africa’s quality of life.

Not only was she passionate about giving, but her goal was to build an organization that was reliable enough to serve fellow independent humanitarians who desired to give back but lacked a platform. She built that platform with this self-coined motivation: “If you build, they will come.”

Being a home to some of the world’s deadliest diseases targeting children at a higher scale (malaria, typhoid, cholera), AfrikRising’s first project catered to the health and safety of orphaned children with providing mosquito nets and new windows. Patrons at the Oyiza Home of Love Orphanage in Nigeria, where the project was carried out, let loose their emotions in appreciation as smiles littered the children’s faces.

The letter of gratitude from the Oyiza Orphanage reads, “The management of Oyiza Orphanage and Foster Foundation humbly appreciates AfrikRising non-profit for the support we have received from your kind office. Your support brings comfort to the children, and we are so happy about this, and we are saying a million thanks” — Joy Taiwo, Director of Oyiza Home of Love Orphanage, Nigeria.

While Christine appreciates the love, she knows she is not done yet. In fact, she has her eyes set on the other countries in the African sub-region, including the Ivory Coast, Kenya, and Ghana. There she hopes to provide for and record a fundamental improvement in the literacy level among children.

Her award-winning passion for pouring all into Africa has been highly recognized by top organizations watching out for relevance in the industry. Thanks to her team of nine passionate board members, AfrikRising was awarded 30 Smartest Companies to Watch 2019. The nonprofit was also awarded 50 Fastest Growing Companies of the Year 2019 and 10 Best CEOs to Watch 2020

When asked what the honorary mention meant to her, Christine expressed gratitude. She had this to say, “We want to be a part of making this world a better place, improving children’s lives and providing them with an opportunity for a better future. I might not be able to help all of them, but by helping one child at a time, I am confident I can make a positive difference over a long period.”
