How did you come by your stage name?

It actually started as a joke back in high school. 2 Chainz was my favorite rapper at the time so I used to play him all the time. So I started recording on my mp3 player to make tracks like him. So I decided to credit the Chainz part of my name to him.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I think I discovered it when I started recording some songs back in high school. The songs were obviously not the best quality but I just fell in love with the feeling of just doing it. I used to record with my friends as well and it would just a great vibe overall. I was really bad at it when I started, so I wanted to perfect which is one of the reasons I pursued it even further. My music used to be laughed at during school so that also gave me the boost I needed.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I would say Playboi Carti for sure. His tracks just have a groovy feeling to them and that’s what I like to use in my songs as well. I like to give my listeners a gateway to just pure bliss and positive vibes. Tracks that get you just nodding your head nonstop. I also credit Lil uzi vert and madeintyo because of these same reasons as well.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

Honestly, I was inspired by MDMA. It happened when I tried it in the summer and ever since then, it’s like I see music like a staircase. All I have to do is just follow the steps and try to maintain my flow and identity. It was also a combination of a lot of things because I had been dealing with insomnia at the time and also a little bit of depression.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I think the greatest challenge is just being disappointed by friends or people I consider to be very important in my life. A lot of people won’t support you as you thought they would but I am not doing it for them anyway. I feel like once you realize this, it’s easier to just move on and keep trying to perfect one’s craft.

I think my greatest attribute is how easily inspired I am to make any tracks. I could literally wake up at 6 am and just want to record because of the way I feel. I am a very optimistic person and that even makes it easier for me to create vibes in my songs that I want to get across.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Yes, I am the best at what I do which is being me. No one else can be me no matter how hard they try. That’s why making songs comes easier to me because I don’t have to masquerade anything, it’s just the way I am. That’s the great thing about individuality, no one can be anyone.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans for the future are to hopefully release more different and unique projects. I also would like to go on tours and meet my fans all over the world. I also would like to make songs with other artists as well; obviously the man himself, drake. A whole lot of other artists as well of course including Playboi Carti.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Yes, I would like to give a big thanks to everyone that has supported me in any way or at any time throughout my musical journey. Mostly, my best friends from high school and some of my friends now.

How can fans find you?

They can find me pretty much on any of the major streaming services. I am also on Instagram (Black_chainz).

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?

My suggestion is to be very patient and doesn’t be easily discouraged. Music is probably one of the hardest things to do out there, it takes time and constant effort. That’s why it’s important for artists to focus on mastering one’s craft and everything else will be added from there.

Another one would be to be very attentive to your surroundings. A lot of people or friends you show your stuff to pretend to be cheering for you, but you never really know and jealousy seems to always play a big part in it. It is important to watch closely because it could be really devastating and heartbreaking.
